About TSGNY

We Educate, Connect, and Inspire

The Textile Study Group of New York (TSGNY) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting a wider appreciation of fiber art. TSGNY began in 1977 as a monthly gathering of six student fiber-artist friends who wanted to continue sharing news‚ resources, criticism, and inspiration. Today the organization has almost 300 members. Most are professional artists using fiber materials and/or techniques in their artwork. The diverse membership includes artists’ representatives, basketmakers, artists’ book makers, collectors, conservators, crocheters, curators, dealers, dyers, embroiderers, felters, historians, knitters, knotters, lacemakers, papermakers, quilters, sculptors, spinners, students, surface designers, teachers, weavers, and writers.

TSGNY hosts ten lectures a year by nationally and internationally known fiber artists. In addition, TSGNY sponsors juried shows that travel nationally.
